We did not build Y-Mart because the world needed another marketplace. We built it because we kept meeting people who deserved a better opportunity.
Launching soon
At YG Engineering, we have spent years working alongside South African businesses.
We have seen skilled people with incredible products struggle to get online. Not because their products were not good enough. Not because they were not willing to work. But because getting started often meant paying monthly subscriptions, losing a percentage of every sale, or spending thousands of rand before making their first one.
YG Engineering was not born in the technology industry. It started in engineering. Our founder spent years working as a mechanical engineering technician in South African manufacturing, solving practical problems every day.
But there was another problem that could not be ignored. Small businesses around us had the talent, the determination and the products. What they did not have was affordable access to the digital economy.
So we learned to build software. Not to follow trends. Not to chase the next big startup. But to build technology that solves real problems for real people.
We started creating websites and software for South African businesses. With every project, one challenge kept coming back. Selling online had become expensive. Some platforms charged monthly subscriptions. Others took a percentage of every sale. For many small businesses, just getting started felt like another obstacle.
That is when the idea for Y-Mart was born.
Because somewhere in South Africa, someone is trying to build a better life.
A mother selling handmade clothing from home.
A mechanic repairing vehicles after work.
A young graduate starting an online business from a bedroom.
A courier hoping to turn one delivery into a sustainable business.
The ambition is there. The work ethic is there. The opportunity is not always there.
We believe it should be.
Not to compete with anyone. Not to become another marketplace. But to remove barriers.
To help South Africans buy with confidence. To help honest businesses get discovered. To help entrepreneurs keep more of what they earn.
And to prove that technology built in South Africa can create opportunities for South Africans.
Y-Mart was developed by YG Engineering, the team behind GetAHustler and other South African digital platforms.
YG Engineering is a South African software company passionate about building technology that solves real world problems, creates opportunities, and makes software accessible to everyone.
Every project we build reinforces the same belief. Technology should create opportunities, not barriers. Y-Mart is our biggest step yet toward helping local businesses grow, buyers shop with confidence, and communities benefit from a stronger local economy.
